Five men will be ordained by Bishop Michael F. Burbidge to the
permanent diaconate Jan. 12 at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington at
11 a.m. The deacons are Felipe Tubil Averia, Malcolm Louis D’Souza, Kenneth
Joseph Galvin, Anthony Joseph Renzette and Peter Andrew Reyda.
Felipe Tubil Averia
Felipe Tubil “Ping”Averia, a parishioner of St. Leo the Great Church
in Fairfax, was born June 6, 1966, in the Philippines to Cepriano and Mercedes
Tubil Averia. He is the youngest of seven. He is a certified public accountant
and financial planning manager. He married Rowena (“Weng”) Dec. 23, 1996, and
moved to the United States in the summer of 1998. He and his wife have one son,
Benjamin, and both volunteer as youth and young adult coordinators for Families
in Christ Jesus.
Malcolm Louis D’Souza
Malcolm Louis D’Souza, a parishioner of Holy Spirit Church in
Annandale, was born Dec. 19, 1966, in Pakistan to Zachary and Annie D’Souza. He
moved to the United States July 31, 1973. He is an IT specialist with the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services. He married Kathleen Donahue April 12,
1997. He has four daughters, one of whom is deceased. He is an extraordinary minister
of holy Communion who brings the Eucharist to the homebound, a member of the Knights
of Columbus, and he and his family volunteer at the Missionaries of Charity in Washington.
Kenneth Joseph Galvin
Kenneth Joseph Galvin, a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church
in Warrenton, was born Dec. 20, 1958, in Newark, N.J., to Eugene and Elizabeth
Galvin. He is a senior product manager with KACE/Quest Software. He married Christine
Kronschnabel Aug. 29, 1987, and they have one son and three daughters. He is a
choir director and led the young adults group.
Anthony Joseph Renzette
Anthony Joseph Renzette, a parishioner of St. Theresa Church in
Ashburn, was born Dec. 11, 1969, in Wilmington, Del., to Leo and Mary Jane
Renzette. He works with MITA Group Inc. He married Elizabeth Appel Nov. 18,
1995, and they have three sons and one daughter. He is a member of the Knights
of Columbus, men’s discipleship group, teen discipleship groups, men’s Bible
study group, a stakeholder in WorkCamp, is an extraordinary minister of holy Communion,
and is involved with hospital ministry.
Peter Andrew Reyda
Peter Andrew Reyda, a parishioner of St. Timothy Church in
Chantilly, was born Oct. 1, 1966, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc., to Robert and
Elena Reyda. He is a chief building tech with Corporate Office Property Trust.
He married Janet Clark, May 22, 1993, and they have two sons. He is a member of
the Knights of Columbus, an extraordinary minister of holy Communion, usher and
lector.
