Ireton has new varsity boys’ lacrosse coach

Joseph A. Gargiulo III has been named the new head coach of the varsity boys’ lacrosse program at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, according to Principal Denise Tobin.

Gargiulo is a graduate of Lynchburg College. He played collegiate lacrosse at the University of Delaware as well as at Lynchburg. He has coached at a variety of levels, including as the varsity head coach at Red Lion Academy in Newark, Del., and most recently at Trinity Christian School in Fairfax.

“I am so excited for the opportunity to coach at Bishop Ireton,” Gargiulo said. “I have played or coached lacrosse for the majority of my life and this is the next big step. The potential here is tremendous. We have a core of exceptional players, a great school and exceptional facilities. I have been impressed with the players’ willingness to get to work. ”

“Coach Gargiulo clearly has a passion for the game, a good technical understanding and a confident patience as a teacher of the game,” said Ireton Athletic Director Bill Simmons. “His enthusiasm is infectious and he’s excited to get started.”
