The diocese commemorates 9/11

Diocesan parishes are commemorating the 20th anniversary of the
Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the U.S. with prayers, patriotic
activities, and ceremonies honoring the victims and first responders. 

Sept. 11 — Mass for the Preservation of Peace and Justice in Remembrance of the Twentieth Anniversary of September 11, 2021, celebrated by Bishop Michael F. Burbidge, followed by
the rosary, Cathedral of St. Thomas More, 3901 Cathedral Ln., Arlington, 9 a.m.

— A reading of the names of the
victims of 9/11, tolling of the church bell and patriotic rosary, Good Shepherd
Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Hwy., Alexandria, 10 a.m.

 

— Holy hour and rosary, with Father Robert Monagle to pray for the military and their families, victims of terror attacks all over the world, and all in situations of grave political instability, the Basilica of St. Mary, 313 Duke St, Alexandria, 10:30 a.m.

 

— 9-11 remembrance ceremony, with
prayers, national anthem, and ceremony honoring the flag and local heroes, Our
Lady of Hope School, 46633 Algonkian Pkwy., Potomac Falls, 2-3 p.m. 

— Prayer service, All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Rd.,
Manassas, 7:30 p.m.

Sept. 12 — Mass for military and first responders,
celebrated by Bishop Michael Burbidge, followed by reception, St. Leo the Great
Church, 3700 Old Lee Hwy., Fairfax, 11 a.m.
