Things that make us happy this week Vol. I

Zoey Maraist | Catholic Herald Staff Writer

Hello readers! Here at the Catholic Herald, we’ve noticed that our collective physical isolation has led to a lot of creativity, often showcased online. Once a week throughout this pandemic, we’ll bring you fun and uplifting videos, photos and posts from people throughout the diocese. Let’s get right to it!

-Deacon James Waalkes of St. Philip Church in Falls Church has wowed us all these past couple of weeks with his hilarious and kid-friendly sing along. Check out his latest cover of a beloved children’s song, “I’m a Little Teapot.”

-Speaking of musical deacons, for those who prefer classical music, Deacon Peter McShurley of the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington dusted off his musical chops to play the “Raindrop Prelude” by Chopin on piano.

-Last week, students at St. Theresa School in Ashburn donated ice cream to health care professionals in Reston. Kudos!

-We love seeing all the beautiful artwork from our Catholic school students. Check out the beautiful Easter lilies that students at Holy Family School in Dale City.
