While many cookbooks focus on specific cuisines or meal types, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Kavanaugh No. 54, published “Table of Grace,” a curated collection of sacred traditions and recipes organized around the liturgical year.

Published to celebrate the court’s 120th anniversary, the cookbook captures the memories of the members through their personal anecdotes and remembrances on recipes, with pictures from the 1930s to today.

“My hope is that readers will savor not only the nourishment of good food from our recipes, but the deeper sustenance of grace as well,” said Maureen Phillips-Houser, regent.

Chartered June 10, 1906, under Founding Regent Aurelia O’Sullivan, the court is based at the Basilica of St. Mary in Alexandria and is the oldest in the Commonwealth of Virginia, serving under the motto “Unity and Charity.”

The cookbook has more than 140 recipes to help with the proverbial question, “what’s for dinner?” — especially on a Friday night during Lent. All sales proceeds will be donated to charity.

“My hope with Table of Grace is that it encourages readers to slow down, share a meal and draw closer to each other and God, for He has the ultimate table of grace, and He invites us all to take a seat,” Phillips-Houser said.
