With all the faithful throughout the Diocese of Arlington, I offer my prayers and condolences to the people of Nashville who are grieving the tragic deaths of six individuals at Covenant School. This horrific shooting is yet another reminder of the presence of evil in our world and the role we each must play in building up a culture of life, where such violent actions are unthinkable. As the next days and weeks progress, the families of the victims will experience varying forms of grief and sorrow. Joined with Bishop Spalding, Bishop of the Diocese of Nashville, I ask all people of good will to pray for an end to all forms of senseless violence and that the victims’ families and friends experience the compassion and comfort only Our Lord can give. May God watch over and protect us now, and always.
