The chords of Bach’s “Ode to Joy” sounding from a piano heralded
a time for festivities as St. Anthony of Padua Church in King George, a mission
of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Colonial Beach, celebrated the opening of
its new parish hall Nov. 16.

The original one-story building was built in 1972. Over the last
two years, construction of a two-story hall featuring a modern kitchen,
multiple meeting rooms and an elevator for access to both floors was completed.
Parishioners celebrated the event with a ribbon-cutting, procession and
potluck.
