Father Michael Depcik will sign an American Sign Language Mass at Holy Spirit Church in Annandale Dec. 1 at 4 p.m., for the deaf and hard of hearing of the diocese and their families and friends.
Confessions in ASL will be held at 3 p.m., before the Mass. There will be a gathering after the Mass. Voice interpreters will be available.
Father Depcik is a deaf priest and chaplain of the deaf ministry from the Archdiocese of Baltimore who celebrates Mass periodically at Holy Spirit.
Provie Rydstrom, diocesan program coordinator to the Ministry for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, coordinated and welcomed Father Depcik to celebrate the ASL Masses. Interpreted Masses are celebrated weekly at Holy Spirit Church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Lake Ridge, and Christ the Redeemer in Sterling. St. Mark Church in Vienna also offers a captioned Mass.
