The Order of Malta, the church’s fourth-oldest religious order, is sponsoring a charity bike ride to benefit the Mother of Light Center in Alexandria Sept. 13 at 7 a.m. Riders can choose between distances of 6, 20 or 30 miles, beginning at Gravelly Point along the George Washington Parkway, just north of Reagan National Airport.

The center’s mission is to uplift the impoverished, destitute, and homeless men and women in the local community, aiding them in constructing lives imbued with stability, purpose and hope — all for the greater glory of God and the salvation of souls.
