Bishop Michael F. Burbidge visited Blessed Sacrament School in Alexandria Jan. 29 to celebrate Catholic Schools Week and commemorate the school’s 2018 Blue Ribbon award from the U.S. Department of Education.

The school was one of only 49 private schools in the nation, and of eight schools in Virginia, to win the national distinction. Blessed Sacrament was also designated a Blue Ribbon School in 2008.

During the visit, Blessed Sacrament pastor John Kelly and principal Valerie Garcia presented Bishop Burbidge with a t-shirt commemorating the 2008 and 2018 awards. Students, faculty and staff will wear the new shirts to school on Jan. 31 to celebrate the award.
