Carolyn Suzanne Holden (née Marzigliano) passed away July 3, at age 61.
She was born in the Bronx and spent her formative years in Farmingdale, N.Y. After obtaining her bachelor’s in finance from the State University of New York in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and a master’s in elementary education from Dowling College on Long Island, she met her husband, Kevin Holden, to whom she was married for 31 years, and moved to Virginia.
In 2006, Holding found her forever professional home at Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Vienna. She taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, library and technology, before moving into administration in the school office. She told colleagues she enjoyed helping new families begin their journey at the school and forming lasting bonds with the students. She especially loved seeing the second graders through their first holy Communion.
Holding was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Marzigliano, and is survived by her husband, Kevin; son, Zachary Dominick Holden; father, Dominick Marzigliano; and other relatives.
Visitation is 9-10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., July 10, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in the school gym in Vienna.
