Catholics for Housing receives award

Catholics for Housing recently received the award of
excellence for its administration of the Neighborhood
Stabilization Program, a federal homeownership initiative.

A nonprofit that has provided affordable housing
opportunities in Northern Virginia for more than 36 years,
Catholics for Housing received a $1.9 million grant in 2009
to buy and rehabilitate homes in Prince William County. To
date, CFH has acquired and rehabilitated 18 homes, Of
these,10 were sold to buyers who earned less than 50 percent
of the area median income and/or were sold to minority
homeowners, and nine were purchased by female heads of
households.
