The diocesan Retirement Fund for Religious collection, coordinated by the National Religious Retirement Office, will be taken up in parishes Nov. 12-13. The collection helps religious communities support older members.
The retirement collection was started by the U.S. bishops in 1988 to address the need for retirement funding for religious communities. The yearly collection provides financial support to hundreds of religious communities for retirement expenses or investments for the future. Since the first year, nearly $948 million has been donated.
