Bishop Michael F. Burbidge celebrated a Mass in Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax Nov. 3.

A large crowd attended the liturgy that included the traditional blessing of the gravesites of deceased priests.  The Mass was part of the Jubilee of Consolation.

As many in attendance grieved over the loss of loved ones, Bishop Burbidge reminded all that we are called to be pilgrims of hope. “That’s exactly what life here on earth is,” he said. “It’s not the end. It’s a pilgrimage, a journey, leading us, pray God, to our final destination to which we all long — life with him, forever in heaven. We are pilgrims of hope because we make this earthly journey with the assurance that it’s always Jesus who leads us and Mary and Joseph accompany us.”
