Since Arlington County is not entering into Virginia’s Phase 1
until at least May 29, provided all conditions are met, the ordination date for
the transitional diaconate has been moved from May 30 to June 13. As of now,
the priesthood ordination will remain June 6. Both ordinations will be at
the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington.

The cathedral’s 50 percent capacity, permitted under Phase 1, is
close to 600 people. However, to maintain proper social distancing, including
empty pews between people, the seating capacity for the cathedral will be limited
to 300 people.

Due to the limited seating, special tickets will be issued for
the families of the five ordinandi, about 30 guests each, as well as priests,
seminarians and a few diocesan representatives. While the ordinations are not
open to the faithful, they will be livestreamed on the Arlington Diocese You
Tube channel for all to participate and pray together as a diocese for these
new priests and deacons.
