Two Dominican sisters from the diocese recently professed vows for the Congregation of Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia. Sister Gloria Christi Bereit, from St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Fredericksburg, made her first profession of vows and Sister Teresa Joy Berry, from St. Francis of Assisi in Triangle, professed perpetual vows at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville, Tenn.

Sister Gloria attended St. Michael the Archangel High School in Fredericksburg and the University of Virginia, where she received a bachelor’s in psychology. She is currently pursuing a master’s in secondary education at Aquinas College in Nashville.

Sister Teresa graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg with a bachelor’s in oboe performance and Aquinas College with a master’s in elementary education. She currently is assigned to teach fourth grade at St. Jude School in Joliet, Ill.

Also this summer, the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist celebrated a 25th anniversary in Ann Arbor, Mich. Among the 150 Dominican sisters who attended, several have ties to the Arlington diocese: Sister Margaret Andrew Ashton, from All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas; Sister Liliana, who graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas Regional School in Woodbridge and Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School in Potomac Shores; and Cayla Poczatek, sister to Deacon Luke Poczatek from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, who just entered as a postulant.
