Sister Marie Thérèse Furman, formerly Alaina Furman and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church in Purcellville, recently professed first vows with the Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament.

“She’s a beautiful person who takes her spiritual life very seriously,” said Mother Jeanette Marie, vocations director. “She took the name Thérèse because Thérèse of Lisieux helped her with her discernment.”

Following her profession in Baton Rouge, La., Aug. 15, Sister Thérèse joined the community of Mercedarian Sisters in Cleveland. The order’s charism is to spread the love of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
