After a drizzly morning, the sun came out and the temperature
rose in time for the annual Memorial Day Mass May 30 at
Fairfax Memorial Park.

The Mass was celebrated by Father John M. O’Donohue, pastor
of Holy Spirit Church in Annandale. He was assisted by Deacon
Nicholas J. LaDuca, who served as homilist.

In his homily, Deacon LaDuca said that on Memorial Day we
pause to remember those who have gone before us.

“(Our lives are) a journey that does not end at the grave,”
he said.

In his closing comments, Father O’Donohue thanked everyone
for coming to the Mass to honor the dead, especially those
who had died defending the United States.
