House of Mercy, a nonprofit that provides food and clothing to those in need, signed a new lease last month enlarging the property from six to nine suites to expand the sizes of the food pantry and community thrift store in Manassas.
The first half of the acquisition includes a new office space for administrative staff and a large open area in the back available for group meetings. These changes will be made this month and it will reopen to the public in July.
The second half of the acquisition includes a large warehouse for office space, which House of Mercy will use as a new location for the food pantry. This change will dramatically increase the size of the food pantry and provide families with more privacy as they seek assistance. The community thrift store will extend into the area currently used as the food pantry. These changes will be implemented in the late summer to early fall.
