The diocesan Office of Hispanic Ministry hosted a Hispanic Heritage Festival and Mass Oct. 1 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Falls Church.

Bishop Michael F. Burbidge celebrated the Mass in Spanish except for the homily.

Following Mass, the festival took place outside and people enjoyed food from different Hispanic countries. The menu included pupusas, tacos, carne asada, elotes locos and minutas.

There were inflatable castles for the children and folkloric dances.

“We are immensely grateful to our volunteers from different parishes and lay movements for their amazing work,” said Joel de Loera, director of the Office of Hispanic Ministry. “The success of our festival was thanks to their participation. We are also grateful to Father Matthew Zuberbueler and the parish community of St. Anthony’s parish for opening their doors to us.”
