Clergy and lay faithful leaders participated in two days of formation and reflection as part of the Diocesan In-Service on Hispanic Ministry in Arlington Feb. 14-15.
Priests and deacons from various parishes participated in a Feb. 14 session held in Burke Hall at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington. Participants reviewed the National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry, published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and discussed the most pressing issues affecting the Hispanic community in the diocese, fostering a dialogue of mutual enrichment.
The next day, more than 100 leaders and volunteers from parishes and diocesan apostolates gathered at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Arlington to strengthen their mission within the church. The session also reflected on the National Pastoral Plan, and addressed key topics such as marriage, family, youth, and children’s education, fundamental pillars for the present and future of the Hispanic community.
At both events, Bishop Michael F. Burbidge, along with diocesan directors and staff members, expressed their closeness to and support for the Hispanic community.
Joel de Loera, director of the diocesan Office of Hispanic Ministry, thanked all participants for their dedication and passion in serving Christ and his church, and noted that the Diocesan Strategic Plan aligns well with the priorities of the National Pastoral Plan.
“Let us continue forward with faith and joy, guided by the Holy Spirit, building together a stronger and more united church,” he said.
