The annual diocesan Kings Dominion Day July 23 drew more than 700 youths and adult leaders for Mass followed by a day of thrilling rides.

Bishop Michael F. Burbidge celebrated Mass at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fredericksburg before the group headed to Kings Dominion amusement park in Doswell.

In his homily, Bishop Burbidge shared Pope Leo XIV’s motto, “In the One, we are one,” encouraging all gathered to be instruments of the Lord’s unity. Referencing the roller coasters, Bishop Burbidge said that while life may bring us unexpected ups and downs and twists and turns, we do not need to be afraid as Christ has given us the gift of one another, the gift of his Word, and the gift of himself.

The event was organized by the diocesan Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries.
