The Arlington Knights of Columbus Council 2473 participated in an interfaith volunteer effort to provide dental care to Afghan refugees May 22.
Seventeen volunteer dentists offered dental care such as fillings, tooth extractions and root canals to around 70 patients at Grove Dental Clinic in Falls Church. The event was organized by JAMAAT (Jews and Muslims and Allies Acting Together).
The Knights donated $4,000 to transport the refugees to and from Grove Dental. Deputy Grand Knight Charles Feghali provided 15 boxes of toys for the children.
“It was my great honor to play a small role as a brother Knight with the EDW council in welcoming the families of our Afghan allies to a free dental clinic and to be part of a dynamic interfaith group showing universal love and respect to our newly arrived Afghan neighbors and their families,” said Scott Monett, parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Vienna.
