Medical Missionaries founder receives Loverde award

Gil Irwin, founder and president of Medical Missionaries, was awarded the 2023 Bishop Paul S. Loverde Missionary Award for Selfless Service last month by Commissioned by Christ at their annual benefit at St. Luke Church in McLean.

Medical Missionaries is a nonprofit serving the poor worldwide with medical aid and other services. Many diocesan priests who have supported the nonprofit attended the event, including Father Lee R. Roos, pastor of All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas; Father Robert C. Cilinski, pastor of Nativity Church in Burke; Father Jack T. O’Hara, retired; Father Jamie R. Workman, vicar general; Father Patrick L. Posey, rector of the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington; and Bishop Emeritus Paul S. Loverde.

CBC is a nonprofit in the diocese that organizes Catholic, short-term mission trips domestically and internationally for adults and families.
