New Missionhurst pastor at St. Ann Church in Arlington

Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Father Johanes (John) Teguh Raharjo was installed as the new pastor of St. Ann Church in Arlington Jan. 6.

He succeeds Missionhurst Father Ramel O. Portula who served the parish since June 2013. That year, then Bishop Paul S. Loverde turned over the administration of two parishes to religious order priests.

The Missionhurst Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary assumed responsibility of St. Ann Church in Arlington and the Disciples of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary assumed responsibility of Queen of Apostles Church in Alexandria.

The new pastor, Father John, was born May 4, 1976, in Magelang, Jawa Tengah Indonesia, to Carolus Lwanga Djahroni and Agnes Sri Soedarwati, one of four children.

He attended Driyarkara School of Philosophy in Jakarta (1998-2002); and Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas (2002-06).

He took his vows with the congregation July 8, 1998, and was ordained Dec. 14, 2006.

His assignments include: parochial vicar of St. Eugene Church in Wendell, N.C., 2007; administrator of Our Lady of the Rosary Mission in Louisburg, N.C., 2011; pastor of St. Eugene Church in Wendell and of Our Lady of the Rosary Mission in Louisburg, N.C., 2012-17; and pastor of St. Patrick Church in San Antonio, Texas, 2018-2023.
