The Catholic University of America Conway School of Nursing was named the nation’s fifth ranked online master’s program for nursing last month, according to the latest rankings by the U.S. News and World Report. In addition, the university was honored as having the 13th Best Online Family Nurse Practitioner Master’s Programs in the U.S.

“It is always a pleasure to see our academic programs achieve top rankings in the Conway School of Nursing,” said Dean Marie Nolan. The rankings “are well-deserved by our faculty members who are expert nurse practitioners who actively practice in their specialty and are excellent teachers who focus on the whole student, mind, body and spirit,” she said. “There is a commitment to respecting the dignity of the human person and promoting human flourishing that makes our school stand out among our peers.”

Catholic U.’s nursing school has provided top nursing talent throughout Washington and the mid-Atlantic for decades. Graduates of the master’s and doctoral programs are prominent clinical leaders and scholars. They include nurse scientists, deans of schools of nursing, nurse executives and more Army Nurse Corps Chiefs than any other school in the country.

Along with graduating exceptional students, the Conway School of Nursing’s research grant funding has grown significantly in recent years, enabling graduate students to participate in impactful research. Students study with a renowned faculty of nurse scholars, nearly all of whom hold doctoral degrees.

The school offers flexible completely online programs tailored to working nurses. Program options include master’s of science in nursing, doctor of nursing practice and doctor of philosophy.  The online programs enable students to earn their degrees in their own time.

Nolan returned to Catholic U. last May as the new dean of the Conway School of Nursing. A professor and scholar, Nolan spent more than 20 years as an academic leader and a researcher improving the quality of care for patients and their families at the end of life.

Construction on the new nursing school building is underway and the building is expected to open in 2024. The facility’s exterior will remain true to the collegiate, gothic style of many other buildings on campus. At more than 102,000 square feet, it will double the size of the current nursing education facilities and will provide space for the school’s expansion.
