The St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus Council hosted a Breakfast
with Santa after Masses at St. Ambrose Church in Annandale Dec. 15. Nearly 300
guests attended and donated more than $4,000 to help the Paul Stefan
Foundation.
Founder Randy James started the foundation after his son Paul
Stefan James was born. Paul was diagnosed in the womb with a diaphragmatic
hernia, a serious birth defect. The family was told that their son would not
survive out of the womb and doctors suggested a late-term abortion. Their faith in God had them reject that idea
and Paul was carried to term. He only lived for 42 minutes.
The foundation helps expectant mothers in need and helps house
them at a house or newly renovated 21-room three-story facility in Orange
County. The former President Madison Inn was purchased and turned into the Paul
Stefan Maternity Housing and Educational Regional Center. At the center,
mothers can receive training in a variety of job skills so they can become
self-sufficient and care for their children.
