More than 600 volunteers from the St. Theresa School community in Ashburn gathered March 23 to pack meals for the poor in developing countries.

Working in partnership with Cross Catholic Outreach, an enthusiastic crowd of students, parents, faculty members and parishioners packed 115,776 vitafood meals, comprised of rice, a protein (soy) and vitamins to support nutrition.

Rachel Revelle, project leader and youth center coordinator, said this was the eighth food-packing event that the school has conducted with Cross Catholic Outreach over the past nine years. The effort has collectively yielded more than 875,000 meals for the poor over the years. She anticipates that when the school hosts its next event in 2025, it will reach the 1 million meal mark.

“This was a wonderful way to bring the entire St. Theresa parish together,” she said. “It enabled the children and families to enjoy a hands-on experience of doing God’s work.”
