The boys from Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax and the
girls from Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria placed
first in last weekend’s Northern Virginia Catholic High
School Invitational Swim and Dive Meet.
The annual event was held at the Freedom Aquatic Center in
Manassas.
Ireton junior Anna Shumate set a meet record in four events,
including the 100-yard breaststroke, and was named the female
swimmer of the meet.
O’Connell’s Andrew DiBenedetto was named male swimmer of the
meet, setting a meet record in the 100-yard backstroke.
