First responders gathered at Christ the Redeemer Church in Sterling Feb. 18 to mourn the death of Sterling Volunteer Firefighter Trevor Brown, 45, who died from injuries caused by a propane gas explosion at a home in Sterling Feb. 16.

Members of fire and rescue departments throughout the diocese attended the Mass, offered by Bishop Michael F. Burbidge. Father J.D. Jaffe, pastor, was the homilist.

“We pray especially that God will embrace Trevor in his infinite love and bless and strengthen his dear wife and children, especially at this difficult time,” said Bishop Burbidge.  “We also pray for Trevor’s colleagues asking the Lord to comfort and console you. We are ever grateful to you for your dedicated service to our community and your willingness, like Trevor, to serve no matter the cost. We pray daily for you.”

Brown had been affiliated with the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System since 2016. He is survived by his wife and three children.
