A new, handicapped-accessible minivan is the latest addition to the transportation fleet at St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly. Its inaugural ride: to take the beloved school chaplain, Father Stephen J. Schultz, to an important Mass.

Thanks to the generosity of the Paul VI community, the minivan was acquired from Pohanka Mobility in Chantilly. It will enhance accessibility and inclusivity as students travel to activities, including field trips, post-graduation Options program outings, retreats, diocesan events, athletic competitions and social gatherings.

The minivan accommodates up to five passengers, including two individuals in wheelchairs, and has two versatile configurations.

The school was able to offer a ride to Father Schultz, who suffered a stroke last October. He concelebrated the Rite of Initiation Mass at Corpus Christi Church in Aldie last month, where 19 Paul VI students were fully initiated into the Catholic Church.

The second ride was a few days later to bring Father Shultz to Paul VI for another Mass and “Pack the Chap” to recognize and honor graduating seniors.
