After serving the Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School community in Potomac Shores for 13 years, most recently as assistant principal of student life and discipline, Dominican Sister Ann Dominic Mahowald was assigned to Mount de Sales Academy in Catonsville, Md., where she will be principal.
From French teacher to administrator, Sister Ann Dominic has greatly impacted the JPII community with her presence, beginning work there as a laywoman and finishing as a Dominican sister.
“My journey has been one of deep joy and I know experientially that the Lord is never outdone in generosity,” she said.
Sister Maria Sophia Gruber will succeed her as assistant principal of student life and discipline. She has served in education for the past 10 years and recently finished her master’s in educational leadership at the University of Notre Dame.
Following a special noon Mass at the school June 8, Sister Ann Dominic and Father Christopher Tipton, who’s completing his sixth and final year as chaplain, will be honored at a farewell reception. All current and past John Paul the Great families and alumni are invited.
