From dressing like a teacher to charity fundraising to spelling and religion bees, schools celebrated Catholic Schools Week 2024 across the Arlington diocese Jan. 28-Feb. 3.

Bishop Michael F. Burbidge visited St. Patrick School in Fredericksburg Jan. 30; St. Thomas More Cathedral School in Arlington Jan. 31; and St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly Feb. 1.

Students at St. John the Beloved Academy in McLean celebrated “Wit and Whimsy Day” Jan. 30 by dressing up as a character from a book or fairy tale, and memorizing a quote, passage or line from a book featuring their character.

St. Ann School in Arlington kickstarted Catholic Schools Week with a student Mass Jan. 28. Students worked with St. Ann parishioner Maureen Donnelly to deliver the readings and prayers of the faithful and with parishioner Chris Sullivan to train as ushers. Next up, the student council took the lead to arrange a student appreciation day with a Free Dress, Wacky Hair and No Homework Day.
