Bishop O’Connell senior Molly Weithman left her mark, shattering school records in distance running this year. At a home meet in April, she became the first female O’Connell athlete to finish sub-5:00 in the 1,600-meter race, smashing a 50-year-old record. She also broke the decade-old school record in the 3,200 meter race and took home first place medals in both distances in this year’s Arlington County Championships, the Draper Invitational, and the Virginia Catholic State Championship meet. She will run cross country and track and field at William & Mary in Williamsburg next year.
