College commitments, winter teams surge

Five Bishop Ireton athletes have committed to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level this fall.

Abigail Crum will play lacrosse at George Mason University

Reagan Lowrance will play lacrosse at Savannah College of Art and Design

Kate McCrocklin will play lacrosse at West Point

McKenna Davis will play soccer at the University of Rhode Island

Filip Boras will row at Iona University

Winter sports are underway at Bishop Ireton. As of Jan. 8, both the boys and girls basketball teams are ranked in The Washington Post top 20, the boys at No. 13 with a 10–3 record, and the girls at No. 6 with an 11–3 mark. Both teams competed in the Kreul Classic in Florida right before Christmas where the boys finished third in their bracket and the girls first.

This season, Bishop Ireton has also fielded its first girls’ hockey team, garnering the first win in school history in November.

The boys’ hockey team is off to a red-hot start and is 11-1 and sits at the top of the Metro Division of the WCAC.
