Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria will welcome 950 students, the highest enrollment in school history. The 2024-25 school year is also the school’s 60th anniversary year.
Ireton is led by Kathleen McNutt beginning her sixth year as Head of School, and Tim Guy, who begins his fourth year as principal.
The faculty welcomes Paulina Alfonso (English teacher), Chris Allen (social studies teacher), Ryan Beck (special services, academic support teacher and boys lacrosse head coach), Megan Brown (theology teacher), Jack Gaumer (math teacher), Micheal Hernandez (theology teacher), Dan Matheis (instructional tech specialist and computer science teacher), Mark Anthony Patubo (science teacher), Madeline Severson (theology teacher), Anastasia Vestermark (library assistant) and Justin Winters (theater tech director and class proctor).
The administration and staff welcome Assistant Principal of Student Life Tim Dodds , Associate Director of Institutional Advancement Barry Hutchison and School Counselor Dr. Maria Laham
“We’re grateful to have a number of new dedicated and talented faculty members joining the Cardinal community this school year,” said Guy. “We know that they will fly high as Cardinals and we are looking forward to seeing them use their many gifts instructing our students in Bishop Ireton’s rigorous, Catholic, college-preparatory curriculum.”
The theme for the school year is the quote, “Whatever may happen, Lord, you hold everything in your hands … you will always be my hope and my salvation,” from St. Francis de Sales.
“We’re thrilled to have full enrollment as we celebrate our 60th anniversary,” said McNutt. “It’s always a joy to be a part of this wonderful community but especially so as we celebrate this diamond anniversary, looking back on the 60 years that came before and looking ahead to the next 60 years and beyond. I’m eager to welcome back our returning students and am looking forward to meeting our new families and students who are coming to Cambridge Road for the first time.”
