Dominican Sister Christine Born, founding principal of St. Thomas Aquinas Regional School in Woodbridge, returned to attend the Aquinas Gala last month.

In 1977, Sister Christine, at the request of Bishop Thomas J. Welsh, arrived in Woodbridge to establish Aquinas School, now St. Thomas Aquinas Regional School, and served as the principal through June 1982. Her work provided a solid foundation for Catholic education in the Woodbridge area that continues to this day.

In the years following her time at Aquinas, Sister Christine served in several other ministries including serving as prioress general (Mother) of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia in Nashville, Tenn., from 1988 till 2000. Currently, she oversees the finances of the Dominicans and supports their retreat house in Tennessee. The Aquinas community was excited to welcome Sister back for her visit.

Sister Christine shared an inspiring message to attendees of the gala highlighting the early days at Aquinas and encouraging all to continue this great work.

She closed quoting St. John Paul II, “You have not only a glorious history to remember and to recount but also a great history still to be accomplished.”
