Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria was recognized recently for having the highest local Catholic school participation in a fundraiser for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

As a result, Ireton was awarded the inaugural Bishop’s Cup for their students’ work at the April 30 Best Buddies of Virginia/DC’s Friendship Walk in Washington to raise awareness and funds. More than 20 Ireton students participated, raising approximately $1,300 for Best Buddies.

The Bishop’s Cup, co-sponsored by Bishop Michael F. Burbidge and Best Buddies of Virginia and D.C., recognizes the local Catholic school Best Buddies chapter with the greatest participation.
