The Bishop O’Connell High School varsity baseball earned its fifth straight WCAC title earlier this month.
They also won the VISAA state tournament quarterfinals in mid-May.
The Knights traveled to Myrtle Beach, S.C. during the Easter break to compete in the South Atlantic Bank Invitational, one of the largest baseball tournaments in the U.S.
The Knights took the Division 1 title after defeating Waccamaw High School (SC), 21-15; Socastee High School (SC), 15-4; St. James High School (SC), 10-2; and Georgetown High School (SC), 12-8.
To win the overall tournament crown, they prevailed, 9-5, over the Division 2 champion, Audubon High School (NJ). Over the five days, the team went 5-0, scoring 69 runs in those five games, while fitting in some team-bonding time in the area as well. Senior Truman Leckey was named tournament MVP.
