Father Joseph F. Moschetto, the new chaplain at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, grew up in the diocese attending Our Lady of Hope Church in Potomac Falls. He’s eager to get started.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve at Bishop Ireton and to be a part of this community,” he said. “I’m excited to walk with the students as they grow in their faith, discover their vocation, and deepen their relationship with Christ. I can’t wait to serve and grow with them in the years ahead, and I look forward to a great year.”

Father Moschetto was ordained a priest in 2020 by Bishop Michael F. Burbidge at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington, when facemasks and hand sanitizer abounded amid COVID restrictions. He served as parochial vicar of St. Luke Church in McLean for three years after ordination, before being assigned as parochial vicar of St. Veronica Church in Chantilly for two years. He has a degree in philosophy from St. John Paul II Seminary in Washington, and also prepared for the priesthood at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, completing theological studies at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum).
