In response to student, parent, and faculty feedback from the diocesan reaccreditation survey, St. Paul VI Catholic High School has revised its daily schedule to help reduce student anxiety and support wellness and student engagement.
One change shifts lunch blocks to allow for longer lunches of approximately 40 minutes, which will give students time to enjoy each other’s company and eat their meal in a more relaxed atmosphere. Another key addition is “Panther Time,” which occurs during Advisory. Advisory connects students of all grades with faculty advisers who support their academic, personal, and social growth and help form a cohesive peer group. This roughly one-hour block will allow students to attend faculty office hours, meet with clubs, visit the chapel, participate in community service, and receive college and career advising — all during the school day. Advisers play a key role in interacting closely with school counselors to promote the holistic development of each student.
This new schedule offers time for structured flexibility, providing students a chance to practice their time-management skills as they prepare for college. The special schedule will also allow for additional Masses, special counseling sessions, priority meetings and more.
