Paul VI boys and girls basketball sweep VISAA championships

The girls and boys basketball teams from St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly swept the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division 1 championships March 5.

The girls team won their 15th consecutive VISAA title with a 60-48 victory over St. Anne’s Belfield School in Charlottesville.

The boys team won their second straight and sixth overall VISAA title with a 56-52 win over St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in Alexandria. Five days earlier, the boys team won the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) championship in dramatic fashion, putting up a last-second shot to bring them 43-42 over Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, Md., with .7 seconds left on the clock.
