Eighth graders Zachary Robbins and Francis O’Connor of St. Ambrose School in Annandale were recognized recently for their standout performance on the American Scholastic Achievement League national online contest. Each was presented with a certificate June 3 at their eighth grade graduation ceremony.
Each January, the seventh and eighth graders at St. Ambrose participate in the online contest, which consists of 100 questions from six categories: general knowledge, language and literature, geography, history, science and mathematics. An award is given to students who score at or above the national average in this contest. The faculty and administration at St. Ambrose encourage their students to broaden their horizons and attempt this challenge each year.
Robbins also earned the highest score in Virginia and received an engraved trophy as the competition’s 2022 Virginia State Champion. Robbins is now the third St. Ambrose student to be recognized as a Virginia State Champion.
