Eighth graders at St. Ann School in Arlington will start the school year sporting the school’s exclusive sweatshirt with a brand-new logo unveiled at a fashion show Aug. 18.

“We are launching a new logo, a refreshed logo, and an exclusive eighth grade sweatshirt just for our eighth graders,” said Oriana MacGregor, the school’s director of development, enrollment and marketing.

MacGregor organized the fashion show for new parents and students. On a sunny Thursday afternoon, students strutted down the red carpeted runway while music filled the air and parents and students cheered them on. Featured in the fashion show were the formal, summer, winter, and gym uniforms as well as the exclusive sweatshirt for eighth graders.

“We wanted to show our parents the basics, the formal uniform and summer option. That’s why we decided to do a fashion show,” said MacGregor. “I think they get especially excited about the P.E. uniform, which they get to wear twice a week. That’s the comfy clothes.” She added that the school will slowly update their uniforms with the new logo.

Lenka and Stephen Romeo, parents of first grader Marcus Romeo, one of the runway models, are delighted with the new logo, saying that everything has to be innovated at some point. They also believe it’s very inviting and shows more of what is the spirit of St. Ann’s.

“I think the parents, like at any Catholic school, they love the consistency of the uniform. I know as a parent myself I always loved when my boys and my daughter knew exactly what they were going to wear,” said Anthony Sahadi, principal. “The kids have always been really positive about the uniforms and the parents have always been very positive as well.”

Following the fashion show, attendees enjoyed popsicles and checked out the new uniforms in a pop-up shop.
