Junior Roy Wulf was named Student of the Year in the high school category by George Washington’s Mount Vernon Dec. 11. The Mount Vernon Prize for Excellence in Civics and History recognized his work in founding the PVI Fife and Drum Corps, which pays tribute to Washington’s European allies during the American Revolution.
Wulf received a scholarship, a bust of George Washington and a candlelight tour of the estate. He credited Jan Siegfried, the school’s instrumental music director, for nominating him for the award.
The PVI Fife and Drum Corps is scheduled to march in the George Washington Birthday Parade in Alexandria Feb. 14 and to perform at the Fairfax Fife and Drum Muster April 26. The corps also will take part in America 250 events throughout the year.
