The St. Paul VI Catholic High School community hosted Hunger Action Week in Chantilly Nov. 11-15.

For more than 20 years, Paul VI has partnered with Food for Others, a food bank and pantry in Fairfax, to support families facing food insecurity. The student body collected well over 200,000 food items.

The friendly competition added excitement, with students earning points for their advisory based on the type of items donated, including canned meat, mac and cheese cups, shelf-stable milk, juice, and much more.

“We couldn’t have done this without the collective effort of every student, teacher, and family who contributed,” said Nisha Downey and Luca DiClemente, Student Government Association co-presidents.

Brian van de Graaff, senior meteorologist with ABC 7 News and Good Morning Washington, visited to cover this inspiring story. He interviewed Joe Hugley, SGA leadership and campus life specialist, highlighting the power of community in fighting hunger.
