The Fife & Drum Corps performed at St. John Neumann Church’s Fall Festival in Reston Oct. 18 and then traveled to Yorktown to perform in an annual tribute celebrating America’s 1781 Revolutionary War victory.

The Oct. 18-19 event included artillery firings, exhibits, and interpretive programs. Paul VI’s Corps provided a historical and musical reenactment of the French Catholics who were instrumental in the victory. They performed a musical program as well as post-ceremonial music at the wreath-laying ceremony. They also displayed their new banner, which included the hand-painted artwork of junior Malena Pereira Sivulka.

As a marching musical group, the Paul VI Fife & Drum Corps provides students with insight into history by recreating the look and music of soldier-musicians from America’s European allies during the American Revolution.
