Middle-school students at St. William of York School in Stafford were greeted Aug. 24 with a renovated campus wing with enhanced lighting, upgraded and interactive classroom display panels, and a new science lab complete with lab rats, birds and a family of turtles.

At a ribbon cutting for the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Wing, Father Robert J. DeMartino, pastor, reminded the teachers present that Jesus Christ was the ultimate teacher and that the goal as educators should always be to imitate him as closely as possible.

One addition to the seasoned faculty is retired U.S. Air Force Col. Mike McDonald. He is eager to give back to his church and community by imparting a love of science to a new generation of young students.

“We have an incredible group of talented teachers who have brought the literary and social sciences to life through the light of our Catholic Faith,” said second-year principal Jen Schiller. “I am very excited that our improvements in curriculum, technology and facilities will impart the same gift of knowledge through our updated science program.”
