Philippe Bruno speaks to seniors at St. Martin de Porres Senior Center in Alexandria last month. The center officially reopened its doors after closing in March 2020 due to the pandemic. While closed, the center underwent $40,000 in renovations, which updated electrical and lighting systems and bathrooms, built shelving and new walls to replace room dividers, and installed ramps.
The center welcomed about 20 seniors, who made reservations in advance, for activities and lunch, with COVID-19 safety protocols in place including social distancing, masks and health screenings.
