Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará Sister Mary Handmaid of the Lord of the Arlington diocese renewed her one-year temporary vows Nov. 1 in a ceremony at Holy Comforter/St. Cyprian Church in Washington. Her next vow will be for three years, followed by her permanent profession.
Sister Handmaid, born Juliana Weber, grew up a parishioner of St. Louis Church in Alexandria, and attended Angelus Academy in Springfield, St. Louis School and St. John Paul the Great Catholic High School in Potomac Shores. She also was home-schooled for two years.
Sister Handmaid learned about the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará through the diocesan Fiat Camp for girls. After completing her postulancy and novitiate in Upper Marlboro, Md., and two years of her juniorate in Washington, Sister Handmaid is now stationed in Dundalk, Md. In February 2022, she is scheduled to go to Italy to continue her studies. Her younger sister, Constance Weber, is a novice with the Children of Mary in Ohio.
